What is Roots and Wings Microschool?
It combines a certified teacher (who knows state standards), with small class sizes to help individual students meet their goals.
Parents receive constant feedback on how their child is progressing.
Is this primarily computer-based learning?
Group discussion, reading, writing, history, and hands-on science projects are the primary methods of learning.
Computers are helpful tools to augment learning. They don’t dominate their time at school.
This balance recognizes that children need to learn computer skills without allowing them to play games.
In addition, computers assess levels, measure progress, and provide reporting.
In short, I am the teacher.
How much does it cost?
Tuition: covered by the Arizona State Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA).
Laptop: can be purchased using ESA funds, maintained by the family.
Educational software and high-speed internet access: provided by RAWM.
Supplies: provided by RAWM.
Field trip entry costs: provided by RAWM.
How does tuition work?
Upon acceptance, RAWM will email you an invoice.
In Class Wallet, you will designate RAWM as the school.
Tuition is $1,375/quarter, paid in advance.
Partial quarters will be prorated.
What kind of laptop/software do I need?
Minimum requirements include an attached keyboard and the ability to use a browser (PC, Mac or Chromebook) but not a tablet/iPad.
RAWM purchases software licenses for each child for the year. This allows for customized learning for each child.
RAWM provides internet access using an Amplifi HD router, which has a firewall, but does not provide site filtering. You may wish to install software on their device with this capability.
I don’t need to go bankrupt buying school supplies?
All needed school supplies are provided by RAWM.
Yes. We use paper and pencil to do our writing.
How do field trips work?
Field trips will occur several times throughout the year on Fridays.
Any entry fees will be covered by RAWM.
Transportation is your responsibility, and carpooling is encouraged. RAWM will not provide transportation.
At least one adult per four children will need to be in attendance. The more the merrier!

Monday through Thursday
Grades 3-8: 7:45AM-11:45AM
Grades K-2: 11:45AM to 3:45PM
